Job Details:

Purpose

The Director of Operations, ASC and Ambulatory Clinics, provides operational leadership and administrative support to the ambulatory clinics and the ASC. This role focuses on optimizing workflows, improving efficiency, and aligning operations with the organization's strategic goals. Partnering closely with the Directors of Nursing (Ambulatory and ASC), the Director of Operations ensures seamless collaboration between clinical and non-clinical teams, supports strategic initiatives for growth, and prepares the organization for long-term expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the daily operations of ambulatory clinics and the ASC, ensuring efficient workflows, compliance, and high-quality patient care. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline administrative and operational tasks. Serve as the primary operational partner to the Directors of Nursing, providing administrative support to allow them to focus on clinical priorities.

  • Strategic Growth Support: Collaborate with the Executive Director to execute strategic initiatives tied to practice growth, service line expansion, and long-term organizational goals. Lead operational projects related to clinic expansion, ASC service development, and capacity optimization. Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities to enhance scalability and efficiency.

  • Capacity and Resource Management: Analyze and manage resource allocation to meet current and future patient volume demands. Ensure effective scheduling, staffing, and utilization across clinics and the ASC. Identify operational bottlenecks and lead improvement efforts to maximize capacity and throughput.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs), including clinic volumes, patient access metrics, and capacity utilization. Prepare and present data-driven reports to leadership, providing insights to inform operational and strategic decisions.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Act as a liaison between nursing leadership, administrative teams, and other departments to ensure alignment and seamless communication. Partner with clinical and non-clinical leaders to integrate operational processes with patient care objectives.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor support staff involved in operational and administrative tasks, fostering accountability and continuous improvement. Ensure team members are equipped with the tools, training, and resources needed to perform their roles effectively.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field. 5+ years of experience in healthcare operations, with a focus on ambulatory or ASC settings. Demonstrated ability to lead operational initiatives and manage administrative workflows in a complex healthcare environment. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, with experience collaborating across clinical and administrative teams.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in capacity management, strategic planning, and process improvement. Familiarity with regulatory compliance in ambulatory and surgical environments. Proficiency in operational tools and data analysis platforms (e.g., scheduling software, referral management systems).

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
