Summary:
Reports to the Medical Director Brown University Health Employee and Occupational Health Services (EOHS). Develops and organizes employee and occupational health services for employees at all Brown University Health affiliates. Supervises activities of nursing staff at The Miriam Hospital Bradley Hospital and Newport Hospital and the clerical staff assigned to RIH EOHS. Functions at advanced level of clinical expertise.

Plans directs and evaluates provision of patient care services. Works in close partnership with Medical Director of Brown University Health EOHS

Responsibilities:
Manages the Employee Health Services component for Rhode Island Hospital Brown University Health Corporate Services. Oversees management of Employee and Occupational Health Services at Miriam Bradley and Newport Hospitals.

Directly supports day to day activities at the RIH EOHS clinic providing personnel management and clinical backup as needed.

Works with Director to develop related Brown University Health system-wide and affiliate-specific policies and procedures.

Manages budgets and variance reports and monitors variances at all Brown University Health EOHS affiliates.

Monitors compliance for appropriate regulatory standards.

Provides guidance and conducts performance appraisals.

Holds regular staff meetings to enhance communications.

Prepares all payroll transactions.

Initiates disciplinary or corrective action plans as indicated.

Serves as consultant and educator regarding Employee and Occupational Health to all Brown University Health employees volunteers and the general public.

Serves as EOHS representative on and/or advisor to appropriate hospital and Brown University Health process improvement regulatory and/or accreditation committees teams and task forces.

Works with Human Resources to develop and maintain processes and procedures to provide appropriate and efficient pre-employment screening in support of overall recruitment activities.

Works with Medical Director of EOHS to develop coordinate and implement clinical protocols for nursing and physician services including pre-placement workers compensation urgent care occupational health. Oversees maintenance of supplies necessary for this service line.

Develops clear and appropriate employee health related employee communications

Works in conjunction with the Medical Directors of EOHS and Infectious Diseases to respond to infectious disease exposures outbreaks and epidemics.

Coordinates appropriate electronic and manual recordkeeping- in compliance with statutory standards.

Compiles and utilizes surveillance data to monitor quality assurance plans.

Maintains clinical expertise and participates and attends educational seminars related to practice.

Other information:

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of accredited RN program.

Must have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.

Bachelor*s Degree in health related field.

Certification in Occupational Health Nursing.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five years of hospital employee health experience preferred in acute care health care system.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Outpatient care and office environment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Direct supervision of 9 FTE*s. Supervisory responsibility for up to 14 FTE*s
