Job Description Performs various typing / clerical duties supporting the department including maintaining diverse and complex records and data, answering the telephone and greeting visitors. Job Responsibility
- * Performs various typing assignments including memoranda, minutes, reports, documents, letters, etc., as assigned.
- * Obtains and secures all necessary signatures on forms and to appropriate consents according to established policies and procedures and insures that all information is complete and accurate.
- * Interacts with visitors, patients, families, etc. Refers and guides them to appropriate locations. Interacts and assists Physicians and all levels of hospital personnel.
- * Answers telephone calls from patients, families, staff, agencies, applicants, etc. Maintains established telephone performance standards, takes appropriate messages and/or directs calls appropriately.
- * Prepares schedules, assignments and reports for management review.
- Verifies attendance on shift for agency and temporary staff, communicating with agencies and related units, required.
- Enters approved schedule changes on appropriate time sheets and processes related paperwork.
- Performs status changes for staff changing shifts, leave of absence and terminations.
- Receives and records sick/absent/late calls, maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Schedules unit staff for orientation and staff development classes.
- * Receives, processes and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
- * Orders unit supplies and maintains inventory par levels.
- * Reports equipment needing repair and initiates work orders. Performs follow-up, as required.
- * Gathers and generates unit statistical information.
- * Maintains unit related files, reports and records
- Performs related duties as required.
*ADA Essential Functions Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Previous clerical experience and/or hospital experience, preferred.
- Typing 35 wpm, required.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
