Overview

The AVP, Business Development is responsible for driving, executing, and overseeing the strategy for revenue growth initiatives. You will be partnering with key stakeholders to identify new and enhanced business opportunities, including defining and leading the vision, in partnership with other executive leadership, and measuring performance against organizational goals.

We are seeking someone with 10+ years of of experience in selling professional services offerings and solutions and who has experience leading teams of 30+ people. The ideal candidate is someone who has a proven track record of selling and growing recurring services bookings, has scaled overall services bookings to 100%+ growth over a 3-5 year span, and can generate services bookings independent of software bookings.



What you will be doing

    Develop and implement comprehensive plans to drive revenue increases, incremental growth, and enhanced business opportunities, based on analysis of market trends, competitive landscapes, and new business opportunities.
  • Identify, manage, and pursue new business opportunities; lead the strategy for customer negotiations and proposals in coordination with cross-functional teams, and present insights to executive leadership to drive new or enhanced offerings.
  • Build, foster, and forge strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, cross-departmental leaders, and industry experts to drive collaboration and achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure the continuity of existing business relationships and contracts, and facilitate activities leading to incremental growth opporunities.
  • Monitor and report on department-wide performance, including pipeline forecasts and attainment, revenue growth, and future trends.
  • Orchestrates the budgeting process, including strategy, allocation, and reconciliation
  • Set vision and collaborate with senior management to define and ensure success of departmental strategy
  • Provide managerial direction and oversee all aspects of performance management for direct reports and teams. Measure and hold all direct reports accountable for meeting defined goals and operational standards; ensure management teams are defining and holding teams accountable for all aspects of performance management of direct reports
  • Oversee and hold management accountable for all Human Resources-related managerial functions and responsibilities associated with hiring, compensation management, employment relations, and termination of employees. Oversee the identification and hiring of new management and strategic roles
  • Develop future leaders and assist identifying leadership potential within the team that aligns with the people strategy. Build a management team bench capable of meeting the demands of rapid growth
  • Provide strategic influence to internal and external peer, industry groups and/or customers
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex and high-level issues; provide direction and guidance to assist with resolution of issues and removing obstacles for team
  • Work with the leadership to plan the strategic vision, organizational structure, operating policies and procedures and management practices to ensure department delivers operational excellence


What will make you successful

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in professional services and solution selling
  • Minimum 5 years experience in prior management experience
  • Experience leading and managing teams of 30+ people effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to scale/grow Services bookings to $100-200m annually
  • Demonstrated fiscal responsibility/accountability in managing budgets
  • Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, applied successfully within a team as well as other areas
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; able to maintain solid rapport with team members as well as maintain professionalism with those outside of department
  • Exceptional leadership, sound judgement, and business acumen skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact
  • Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills

  • Exceptional ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and tact
  • Exceptional ability to establish rapport and gain the trust of others; effective at gaining consensus

  • Ability to coach, mentor and provide feedback to team members in a timely manner
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to developing team members
  • Exceptional experience with Microsoft Operating systems and products
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook or equivalent email and calendar software
  • Exceptional business and technology acumen
  • Up to 20% travel time required
  • Based on individual states' employment laws, the following details are to comply with the relevant salary posting requirements: base salary range of $192,000-$240,000 and eligible for variable compensation, bonus and benefits
