Position Announcement

Working within Business Services, this position is responsible for the review and processing of accounts payable payment requests, travel pre-authorizations, travel claims, and other similar requests, ensuring that the required supporting documentation is submitted by University personnel. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the data integrity, records storage, filing system structure, and long-term storage requirements of the Accounts Payable system.
  • Process approved invoices for payment using the Banner Finance system and verify the integrity of account coding, budget authorization and correct documentation.
  • Prepare payments for contracted services, check requests and utility bills.
  • Assist reviewing and processing pre-approvals for travel. Work with University personnel to ensure travel policy is followed. Assist University personnel and affiliates with travel preparations such as car rental bookings, registration payments, airfare payments, hotel payments, travel insurance, cash advances and completion of required travel forms.
  • Review travel claims to substantiate that all expenses are business related and in accordance with University travel policy.
  • Assist in providing training to departments, staff, faculty, and approvers on the University's travel and expense policies and the process for submitting travel and expense claims.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or vocational/technical school degree required. A combination of college coursework and experience may also be considered.
  • At least one (1) year related experience required; experience working in high-volume accounts payable or in a higher education business environment preferred.
  • Ability to concentrate on details of projects during numerous interruptions by telephone calls or walk-in inquirers.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of bookkeeping, maintaining financial records, preparing routine financial reports/forms, and associated use of computer systems.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work with senior-level accountants in basic accounting skills.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time non-exempt staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $43,000-$45,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of February 2025.
