Overview

The Mail Systems Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining various mail processing equipment to ensure the efficient and timely preparation, sorting, and delivery of outgoing and incoming mail at the AmTrust Print Facility in Seven Hills, Ohio. The role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and the ability to work within a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.



Responsibilities

    Mail Processing: Operate and maintain high-speed mail equipment including inserters, sorters, folder machines, and other related equipment to process outgoing and incoming mail.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of mail systems and equipment. Identify and resolve mechanical and operational issues to prevent delays in mail processing.
  • Sorting & Preparation: Ensure accurate sorting and preparation of mail according to size, weight, and delivery requirements. Ensure that mail is properly packaged, labeled, and routed to the correct destinations.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality checks to ensure all mail is properly addressed, formatted, and complies with postal regulations.
  • Tracking & Documentation: Maintain records of mail processing activities, including volumes, equipment performance, and any issues or delays.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while operating mail equipment. Ensure compliance with postal and regulatory requirements, including USPS and other relevant guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure the efficient flow of mail and communication across the facility.
  • Problem-Solving: Resolve any issues with mail processing in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to service.


Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certifications related to mail systems or equipment maintenance are a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a mailroom or print facility setting, with hands-on experience operating mail equipment.
    • Experience with high-volume mail processing equipment (inserters, sorters, etc.) is preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities related to mail processing equipment.
    • Basic computer skills and the ability to work with software used for mail tracking and reporting.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
  • Other Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
