Research Data Analyst 4
Job Summary Please note: this is 1 year contract
Applies extensive knowledge as a research professional with an in-depth understanding of statistical and / or other analysis techniques designed to support research projects of broad scope and complexity. May function as a team lead.
The responsibilities of the Research Data Analyst 4 will be to provide coordination, oversight, and help shape the agenda for implementation science informed global health projects in tuberculosis (TB) prevention and care. Activities typical for this role include study design and creation of analysis plans, developing and reviewing data collection instruments, collecting and organizing quantitative and qualitative data with collaborating centers and staff, training project staff to collect quantitative and qualitative data, and overseeing data management in Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) or another similar program, and coordinating and moderating stakeholder and community meetings. The analyst will be responsible for leading the design and approach to data collection, data management, and statistical analysis and will be expected to lead implementation of those activities in partnership with statisticians or other methodologists as needed.The analyst will present the strategy and results to the Principal Investigator and will be responsible for refining as needed based on input.
Current Major Projects
1. Supporting, Mobilizing, and Accelerating Research for Tuberculosis Elimination (SMART4TB) Technical Areas 3 (Operations and Implementation Research) and 7 (Policy) Consortium Studies - This USAID-funded project provides technical support related to implementation science methods and operational research to across other technical areas in the consortium across the TB care pathway, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, policy formulation and dissemination, and capacity building. The consortium includes project sites in more than 10 high TB burden countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Skills of interest include international field site management, data management and analysis, implementation science methods and approaches, technical consultation, and policy formulation and dissemination.
2. Implementation Science Accelerator- UCSF IGHS. In support of a partnership with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) - UCSF IGHS provides technical consultation related to dissemination and implementation science for various PAHO projects across a range of health priority areas, including infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and immunization programs. Skills of interest include data management and analysis, implementation science methods and approaches, technical consultation, and policy formulation and dissemination.
3. Global Framework to Enhance Demand, Access, and Seeking of TB-related Healthcare Services (TB-DASH)- This J&J Global funded project seeks to create a community driven framework rooted in implementation science to improve demand for innovations in TB prevention, diagnosis and treatment among people affected and front-line healthcare workers. Skills of interest include implementation science knowledge, scoping and systematic reviews, community engaged research methods, consultations, policy formulation and dissemination The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $105,900 - $163,500 (Annual Rate). - Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 5+ years directly related experience
- Experience working in global health research
- In-depth knowledge of research function
- Advanced skills associated with statistical analysis, database management and systems programming
- Advanced skills in analysis and consultation
- Advanced ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing
- Advanced project management skills. Ability to lead and influence within and external to project team
- Advanced research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
- Advanced ability to think creatively to recommend action steps or strategize solutions relative to research.
- Knowledge of several statistical programs including STATA or R and MS Excel, as well as the data management program REDCap, is required to ensure the accuracy of study data, produce relevant datasets for analysis, conduct data analysis, and prepare data for publication/presentation
- Experience working in global health research
- Knowledge of implementation science methods and approaches, including frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, implementation science, or related area or equivalent experience/training
- Experience working on international collaborations including international field experience
- Proficiency and experience with qualitative data (design and analysis)
