Interior Designer

Job Summary:

The Interior Designer is a creative professional who creates spaces that are safe, functional and visually appealing. They work closely with our teams and clients to design commercial spaces that meet the clients' design needs and preferences. The Interior Designer partners with the Senior Interior Designer(s) on deliverables and works directly with them to ensure the facilitation of a project's completion; on-time, on/under-budget, and in full compliance with our quality standards. The Interior Designer should work on any/all phases of development including pre-design, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration. As well as seeing a project through to completion through purchasing, installation and styling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produces high quality project design deliverables in both FF&E and construction documents, taking the lead on brand standard projects and working directly with Senior Designer(s) on semi-custom and custom project development.
  • Creates initial design sketches, color themes and ideas based on client requirements and space availability for conceptual stages.
  • Partner with Senior Designer(s) on client communications, meetings, and presentations ensuring all client's needs are met and giving them the best design possible. Including but not limited to attending and/or leading client meetings to understand the project direction, design needs, and client preferences regarding styles and colors.
  • Set up projects and add all custom items into specification programs.
  • Works with junior designers and design assistants, delegating tasks as appropriate.
  • Provide preliminary redlines on drawings and specifications for junior designer(s) and design assistant(s).
  • Work on brand submittals and all required submittals for project.
  • Sources materials and products for the design, making FF&E vendor selections for brand standard projects and overseeing the documentation process of all materials and FF&E packages.
  • Takes the lead on all quotes and pricing to ensure delivery of project on/under budget.
  • Monitor lead times, provide sign off on all final quotes, and ensure FF&E information is approved and delivered to the purchasing department to be purchased on time.
  • Complete initial sign off on all VE options.
  • Participate in OAC calls.
  • Performs job sites visits as needed, including but not limited to installations and styling trips.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in space planning.
  • High level of understanding and capabilities in construction documentation and or design development/selections.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, react to change productively and adjust work accordingly per project demands under the guidance of the Director of Interior Design.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with all peer employees, management, consultants and clients.
  • Ability to work independently on an assignment with maturity and self-motivation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a team setting and achieve results through collaboration and sharing.
  • Must be able to come to work promptly and regularly.
  • Must be able to concentrate and perform efficiently.
  • High level of creativity, innovation and imagination.
  • Ability to sell ideas and solutions to clients.

  • Confidence in measurements, calculating budgets, pricing projects and margins, etc.
  • Possesses working knowledge of codes/performance requirements for commercial grade materials and standards.

Credentials, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science or associate's in architecture or interior design from an accredited CIDA institution.
  • 2-5 years of proven experience in interior design.
  • Proficient in ACAD, Revit, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office. Enscape and other 3D programs are a plus.
  • Proficiency in writing custom specifications.

Preferred:

  • LEED certification.
  • Hospitality or commercial design experience - especially work in high-end resort and boutique hotel properties.
  • NCIDQ certification

Physical Environment and Requirements:

  • May spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • May work with teams or alone.
  • Moving & lifting furniture during installations

Special Requirements:

  • Required to pass a background check and maintain a clear background.
  • Required to pass a drug test.
  • Some travel may be required.

Salary: $60,000-70,000 annually, depending on experience

Schedule: 8:00AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday

Location: Salt Lake City, UT 84103
