Department Description

The unit currently comprises responsibilities spanning leadership communications and approvals, Campus Administrative Policies (CAP) management, records and information management (RIM), as well as response to California Public Records Act (CPRA) and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests on behalf of the University.

The areas concerning CAP, RIM, CPRA, and FOIA each have considerable levels of legal and financial risk that require timely action and attention. State and federal laws and regulations are applicable.
Failure to comply with CPRA will result in legal actions taken against the University and may result in financial consequences. Over the past several years, CPRA requests have become increasingly complex and productions voluminous, often resulting in thousands of pages of potentially responsive records, which must be reviewed for potentially exempt information.
