Job Overview: At Cambium Assessment (CAI), our purpose is to ensure every teacher and student feels seen, valued, and supported. As the Director of our K2 Portfolio, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our K2 assessment portfolio, ensuring that our K2 solutions solve key problems for educators and students alike. This leadership role requires a user-centric mindset and a strategic approach to assessment development, from defining the product vision and roadmap to working with Content and Psychometric experts to expand our K2 item banks and design test blueprints to meet customer reporting and policy objectives. You will be instrumental in shaping CAI's suite of early assessment tools, CAI's test delivery interface designed for young students, and K2 reports for teachers, families and administrators that help identify learning challenges early on. Job Responsibilities: Vision and Positioning
Define and communicate the vision for a comprehensive K-2 Assessment offering that aligns with the organization's strategic objectives and meets the evolving needs of our customers. Use competitive market data to inform strategic decisions and ensure our K2 Assessment portfolio is positioned to meet current and future user needs. Work with cross functional teams to develop a road map identifying milestones and schedule for operationalizing the K-2 assessment portfolio.
Assessment Design and Development
Demonstrate a strong understanding of early reading/literacy development pedagogical methodologies and their relationship to assessment design and measurement. Collaborate with Content Team Senior Directors to design, develop and implement a comprehensive set of K2 Assessments (Diagnostic, Interim and Summative) that position CAI as a leader in the K2 space.
Oversee a Council of Early Literacy and Math Experts
The CAI Advisory Board will consist of leaders in the field of Early Literacy and Math. You will regularly consult with and convene members of the K-2 Advisory Board to identify topics around which expert advice is critical in informing CAI's K2 development efforts.
Operational Delivery of Online K2 Assessments and Reports
Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure assessments are delivered on the CAI testing platform ensuring the needs of young students and K2 teachers are addressed. Collaborate with Senior Reporting Managers to build a suite of K2 Reports for each component of the K2 portfolio. Collaborate with cross functional teams (Training and Data Use teams) to develop product strategy to support teachers in creating and utilizing K2 formative assessments to enhance student learning.
Existing and New Customers
Be the face of CAI's K-2 Assessment Portfolio to existing and new customers. Draw on your expertise of K-2 assessment policies across state and federal regulations to guide and support customers in building their K2 assessment programs. Lead efforts to respond to RFPs for K-2 solicitations.
Continuous Improvement
Stay informed on the evolving research and best practices in early childhood assessment, identifying emerging trends in K2 Assessment, and potential partnerships to enhance product offerings and integration capabilities.
Job Requirements:
Master's degree in a relevant field such as Early Education or Educational Psychology; Doctorate degree preferred. 8+ years of experience in an Assessment Management role. Proven track record in developing and launching early childhood assessments demonstrating a blend of operational management, strategic thinking, and innovation. Experience in the pedagogy of early reading/literacy development and ability to operationalize in assessment and measurement. Demonstrated experience in managing cross function teams and ensuring alignment across departments. Deep knowledge of early childhood assessment trends, best practices along with strong professional network in the field to draw upon for additional expertise. Familiarity with state and federal early childhood regulations related to assessment.
