Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Physician Specialist for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
In this position, the per diem Physician Specialist- Hospitalist with manage primarily patients admitted to the hospitalist medicine service with close collaboration with consultants and subspecialists who practice at
RWJUH. Through the well-established, multidisciplinary team the overall goal it to have close collaboration with the emergency room physicians, obs unit physicians, and intensive care units for patient who require admission to hospitalist service for acute inpatient level of care on a medical surgical and intermediate care unit. The Physician Specialist- Hospitalist with engage in the inpatient care, assist with the transitions of care back to the ambulatory setting, and work closely with the surgical and medical oncologic support staff, inclusive of advanced practice providers.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- The Per diem Physician Specialist- Hospitalist manages patients on the hospitalist medicine service.
- Collaborates with consultants and subspecialists at RWJUH.
- Focuses on teamwork with emergency room, obstetrics unit, and intensive care unit physicians.
- Cares for patients requiring acute inpatient level on medical-surgical and intermediate care units.
- Involved in inpatient care and transitions back to ambulatory settings.
- Works closely with surgical and medical oncology support staff, including advanced practice providers.
- Supports the team-based approach, inclusive of communication with case managers, social workers, bed managers.

- Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of New Jersey.
- Must be American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Medicine Eligible/Certified.
- Current DEA and CDS Registration.
