Clinical Dietitian II in Endocrinology

Job Description

Provide individual and group medical nutrition therapy for weight management and diabetes care and education. Document all patient interactions in electronic medical record. Remain proficient and up to date in the areas of medical nutrition therapy for diabetes and obesity.

  • Teaches behavioral weight management classes.
  • Teaches classes in nutrition, food choices and meal planning for participants in the division's various diabetes and weight management programs. Documentation as required in EMR.
  • Uses advanced clinical expertise to teach intensive insulin management classes. Documentation as required in EMR.
  • Provides comprehensive and competent medical nutrition therapy to individual patients in the areas of diabetes care and education, weight management, lipid disorders, PCOS, and renal dysfunction in patients with diabetes. Documentation as required in EMR.
  • Train endocrinology patients in use of insulin pumps. Documentation as required in EMR.
  • Evaluate pump and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) downloads and communicate necessary information to physician or nurse practitioner. Documentation as required in EMR.
  • Bring medical concerns regarding patients seen individually or in groups to the attention of the referring provider.
  • Order and track weight management products through Ascent. Maintain product inventory for weight management program.
  • Revises educational material in an ongoing manner to reflect new research and approaches
  • Serve as preceptor to dietetic interns
  • Teach in Jefferson Medical College.

Education & Requirements:

  • BS in Nutrition required
  • 5 years of experience as clinical dietitian required
  • RDN required
  • PA state license required
  • CDCES required
  • Maintains CEU's for all certifications and licenses
  • Certified insulin pump trainer preferred
  • epic experience preferred
  • Certified Insulin Pump Trainer for Medtronic, Insulet and Tandem (or willing to obtain training certification)
  • Intricate knowledge of Continuous Glucose Monitoring
