Overview

Partner
with and support the regions to grow profitable business in the designated
business segment. Act as a business segment subject matter expect * from both
an underwriting and industry perspective - to support regional personnel and
agents in successfully marketing and underwriting new and existing accounts.
Proactively manage business segment results by identifying positive and
negative trends and recommending strategies to improve performance. Further
Selective's generalist underwriting appetite by demonstrating a willingness and
ability to effectively underwrite accounts in the assigned business segment. All job duties and
responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and
regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance of Small Business portfolio and make adjustments to edits and DSM thresholds as needed to ensure expected targets are achieved (Profitability, Submissions, Hit Ratios, DSM Levels and Straight Through levels).
  • Generate premium through appetite expansion and promote growth opportunities from existing or new segments or markets.
  • Develop excellent working relationships to provide exceptional customer service to regional personnel and agents.
  • Continue to broaden our reach through expansion into new footprint states and strengthen partnerships within our current footprint.
  • Develop content and participate in region-sponsored Sales Meetings as needed.
  • Refine existing and build additional dashboard capabilities that allow us to more granularly measure key business outcomes?and operational objectives.
  • Supports Market Research & Appetite Incubation Team in the pursuit of new and enhanced market opportunities.
  • Partner with marketing team and field to deploy incentive plans (e.g. PowerUp) designed to change agency behavior and/or assist the regions with achieving growth targets.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements
  • Industry knowledge in assigned business segment
  • Managing small business projects;
  • Excellent customer service, networking and relationship building skills;
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills;
  • Strong problem-solving ability,
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Ability to indirectly influence others to support business objectives.

Education and Experience
  • 3+ years Underwriting/Claims/Loss Control or other insurance-related experience.
  • The following experience is preferred: 1-2 years Risk Management;
  • 1-2 years territory management
  • 1-2 years agency experience;
  • 1 -2 years exposure to business segment

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
Pay Range

USD $82,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /Yr.
