The Office of Dean's Administration in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources is currently accepting applications for a Program Director. About the Opportunity This position will be responsible for overseeing the Statler College of Student Services operations and ensuring that all students in the College are in compliance with all College and University policies and procedure. What You'll Do
- Supervise the daily operation of the Statler College Office of Student Services providing administrative leadership to plan, coordinator, and supervise the office. Allocate work assignments to staff, setting priorities, and deadlines. Develop and train the student service staff.
- Ensure that academic actions/requests made to the Office of Student Services follow all established college and university academic policies and procedures.
- Certify and process M.S. and Ph.D. requests for graduation.
- Certify all students in the Statler College for graduation based on established College guidelines and policies.
- Provide college level oversight of all college services and activities related to processing student requests, forms, applications.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and revision of forms, policies and procedures.
- Certify that students enrolled in the College are in compliance (e.g. NCAA, I-20). Conduct student audit reviews for CPoS, Athletes, and Sponsored Students.
- Participate in College and University committees and task forces that affect the Statler College.
- Collaborate with the Office of the University Registrar to ensure that all Statler College DegreeWorks audits are accurately scribed. Provide exceptions in DegreeWorks.
- Collect, analyze, and process data from multiple data warehouses including University and non-University sources. Develop, implement and manage systems to track data, spot trends and make data-driven recommendations.
- Prepare data reports, data modeling, and other data management functions as request by the College.
- Collaborate with staff, faculty, administrators and internal departments to research and resolve complex student issues.
- Provide reports to appropriate college personnel (faculty, staff, dean) in a timely manner to assist the college in making decisions, grants, or other requests.
- Prepare reports for ABET accreditation activities, Board of Governors reviews/reports and the College's strategic plan on undergraduate and graduate student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and graduation.
- Plan and conduct meetings for graduate students, graduate program coordinators.
- Work with faculty, students, programs, department chairs, and others involved with assessment activities of the college.
- Work with the Office for Graduate Education and Life, the Office of the University Registrar, the Office of Admission, Office of the Institutional Research.
- Assist the Office of International Students and Scholars Services with student's OPT, I-20 Extension, other general requests.
- Generate reports on admissions, enrollment, retention, transfers, probation, suspension, academic performance, test scores, graduation.
- Maintain current knowledge of WVU's Catalog, Course Scheduling CLSS system, Banner, STAR, IDEAS, TargetX. Serve as a back-up coordinator for the College on some of these programs.
- Create and maintain filing system and student records.
- Answering Student Services email account in an efficient manner.
- Monitor and maintain the Student Service office budget and reconcile all purchases for daily needs and events overseen in the office.
- Maintain the Office of Student Services website.
- Perform special programs from the Office of the Associate Dean.
- Perform other activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field is required with one degree (bachelors or masters) in a STEM discipline. A combination of education below the level of a master's degree and experience may not substitute for the education requirement.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in each of the following:
- Directly related experience working with assessing, analyzing, and reporting student data on enrollment, retention, graduation, and demographic characteristics.
- Experience working with students, staff, faculty, senior College and University administrators and other educational professional.
- Experience with student data systems, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, WVU systems.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to develop and execute a variety of strategies and models for assessing and document College performance.
- Ability to develop, manage, and use databases containing highly confidential information.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and computer-based presentations to large groups.
- Work independently after receiving general instruction.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in student-facing roles.
- Experience with student information systems.
- Supervisory experience.
- Knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of all Statler College departmental admission standards and benchmarks.
- Demonstrated ability to work constructively and efficiently with students.
- Knowledge or ability to work with student information systems (i.e. Banner, SSC Campus, DegreeWorks).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access).
