Overview

NISA Investment Advisors, LLC (NISA) offers customized investment solutions for tax-exempt and taxable institutional clients. NISA manages over $283 billion in fixed income and equity securities and over $163 billion in derivative notional value. We are currently in search of a leader of Data Management to join our senior leadership team and collaboratively drive the future of data at NISA.



Responsibilities

This role, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, will enable NISA to continue its more than 30 years of success by working in partnership with leaders and teams around the firm to envision, plan, implement, monitor and routinely oversee the firm's data management strategy, including data governance, data quality, data engineering, and master data management. An individual in this role will provide strategic thinking and leadership in order to bridge the gap between data management and business objectives, and will be a pivotal contributor to the data capabilities that are crucial to NISA's ongoing growth and success.

    Align to the business and business objectives of NISA while guiding the firm's strategic, data-related capabilities and maintaining the competitive edge for our core business
  • Communicate the value and impact of data-driven solutions to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders, including in Portfolio Management and Client Services, to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Establish realistic, achievable, comprehensive roadmaps that drive the maturity of NISA's data environment and support the organization's business goals
  • Implement and evangelize data governance frameworks, policies and standards
  • Lead and develop a high-performing direct team of data professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement, while also providing data-centric mentorship and guidance to individuals across the organization
  • Partner with other departments and stakeholders to align data initiatives with the firm's strategic plan and promote data-driven decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry best practices
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of enterprise data architecture


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in data management and related technologies within financial services or another highly regulated industry is preferred
  • Results-oriented leader with a proven track record of leading data transformation initiatives
  • Strong analytical mindset to assess data challenges and develop effective solutions
  • Ability to adapt to technological changes and evolving regulatory environments
  • Proficiency in data analytics and the ability to leverage data for strategic business insights
  • Comprehensive understanding of data management principles, including data governance, data quality, and data architecture
  • Familiarity with data technologies, including data analytics tools, machine learning, and artificial intelligence
  • Experience building on modern data stacks and cloud-based technologies: AWS, Databricks, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering principles (e.g., building reusable data pipelines)
  • Understanding of data security and compliance requirements to protect data assets
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining an enterprise-wide data catalog
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to align data strategy with business objectives and drive innovation
  • Extensive experience managing broad technical teams and guiding career development of personnel
  • Ability to build strong relationships across departments to ensure collaborative data initiatives
