- Responsible for performing a wide range of food service duties. Works under moderate supervision and is expected to solve problems by reference to job flows or established work procedures, to assure quality service standards.
Location:
- Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Kitchen (FSK Pavillion 01 Level).
Schedule:
- 3:30 PM-7:30 PM or 4PM-8PM, 5x per week (30 hour per week) to include every weekend.

- Completes annual organization wide safety and infection control updates.
- Reads and maintains diet sheets, Meditech and CBORD reports.
- Visits new admissions and explains meal service process, conducts weekly meal rounds.
- Distributes menus and assists with patient meal selections.
- Follows established department and hospital standards for tray delivery and two patient identifiers consistently.
- Delivers and retrieves meal carts with trays according to established time schedule.
- Delivers and retrieves patient meal trays according to established time schedule.
- Maintains a high degree of accuracy when checking and delivering trays to ensure overall quality control and patient safety.
- When passing trays, spot checks trays to ensure meals are neat and accurate to diet and patient selection.
- Labels, stocks and rotates tube feedings on assigned floors.
- Checks floor stock for proper storage and labeling.
- Displays excellent customer service skills.
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Performs related work as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lifting and/or carrying objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
- Pushing and/or pulling non-motorized equipment (e.g., stretchers, supply carts, mops) weighing over 50 pounds.
- Stooping and bending.
- Reaching and grasping objects.
- Walking and/or standing for extended periods of time.
- Work requires the ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information.
- Work requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involve courtesy.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of prior experience, preferably in food service, with knowledge of different diet types.
- Computer skills preferred, particularly for menu selection.
- No certification, registration, or licensure required.
- Strong customer service skills required.
