Overview of Responsibilities: Acquires new business relationships resulting in business loans and maintains the existing portfolio of business loans. Delivers an exceptional member experience designed to retain and grow usage of MSGCU's products and services.



  • Generate Loan Business: Builds and maintains relationships with members and leverages centers of influence (COI) to generate new commercial lending opportunities. Develops a plan to engage with COI's to ensure consistent referral business that contributes to meeting and exceeding portfolio loan growth and revenue targets.
  • Loan Origination and Structure: Reviews member financial condition and assesses the member's ability to repay the loan. Sources, structures, and presents business lending opportunities to the Michigan Business Connection (MBC). Acts as a liaison between members and the MBC to negotiate loan terms and secure successful loan approvals.
  • Credit Analysis and Underwriting Support: Analyzes commercial loan requests and prepares written evaluations for MBC review. Collaborates with MBC underwriting teams to gather necessary information to ensure thorough and accurate processing.
  • Lending Due Diligence: Conducts comprehensive due diligence on all commercial lending applications to ensure the accuracy and completeness of business documentation. Obtains necessary appraisals, titles, and other essential documents to support the loan approval process.


Education and Experience Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred; and
  • 7 years of commercial lending with portfolio management experience required.
  • Completion of a formal credit training program highly desired.

Working Conditions:



  • Office and branch location environment with little discomfort from noise, extreme temperature, dust, or other factors .
  • Required to travel throughout MSGCU's service area a majority of the time. Team member to provide own transportation with eligibility for on-the-job mileage reimbursement.
  • Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery. Receives detailed instructions and security procedures on an annual basis to minimize risk.
  • This work involves sitting most of the time with brief periods of walking or standing and may occasionally require lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary starts at $87k and can increase based on relevant experience
  • Team members in this role are eligible to earn incentives as part of our variable compensation plan
  • Medical, dental and vision on your first day! You can choose the most generous Health Savings Account (HSA)-eligible medical plan with no monthly premium for you (and your family)
  • If you are at least 21 years old, you will receive a 3% contribution from MSGCU, and a 100% match for the next 7% you contribute to your 401(k)
  • You will enjoy 12 paid holidays and up to 120 hours of PTO your first year of service (pro-rated based on start date)
