Basic Function

The Cincinnati Technology Center provides research, development, and technical service for polymers and polymer recycling in a laboratory setting. The analytical lab performs spectroscopy, chromatography, thermal, rheology, and microscopy analysis. The site has strong HSE performance and a positive work culture.

LyondellBasell's Cincinnati Technology Center is seeking a laboratory associate for the polymer characterization laboratory. This position will perform analytical testing, interpret data, maintain equipment, and document results. The Lab Associate will participate in teams to achieve department goals.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work safely and participate in activities to improve safety performance of site.
  • Contribute to the site's positive work culture.
  • Perform polymer characterization analytical testing, analyze data, and document results.
  • Become a subject matter expert in performing assigned analytical tests.
  • Support analytical researchers to solve complex characterization problems.
  • Maintain instruments in good working condition and perform routine calibrations.
  • Participate on project teams to help achieve department goals.

Min. Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or a related technical field preferably with experience in an R&D, manufacturing, or industrial laboratory.
  • Experience in ICP, XRF or NMR is desirable however a broad range of experiences would be considered (e.g. FTIR, GC, HPLC, GPC, Microscopy, Thermal Analysis, Rheology).
  • Highly resourceful, initiative-taking individual focused on providing high quality laboratory data in an efficient manner, while exhibiting excellent workplace skills.
  • Solid background in Microsoft Office and computer-based instrument control systems for analytical equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to make competent, independent, decisions in a timely manner to ensure excellent progress on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple and or changing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess the ability to interact effectively and professionally with internal customers, external customers and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry is preferred with 0-5 years relevant experience.
