Brief Description

Regal Rexnord, a leading supplier in the Aerospace industry, is seeking a Manufacturing Manager II reporting to the Plant Manager. The primary responsibility for this position is to lead the operations of a $40 Million business that manufactures mechanical Aerospace components. This individual will lead and provide superior manufacturing leadership to the production managers and maintenance personnel to enhance business performance in the areas of mfg. cost, output, safety, and quality improvements. The plant, which is located in Monticello, IN, manufacturers high quality Bearings used for Aerospace applications.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to a group of Production Associates and Leads
  • Monitor various metrics related to Safety, Productivity, Quality, and Cost/Productivity. Take immediate actions as needed to ensure goals are met.
  • Ensure customers receive high quality products that are delivered on time.
  • Develop and provide performance feedback to Associates and make various employment related decisions.
  • Drive ownership of Safety/Quality/Delivery/Cost to shop floor associates and production managers
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking in regards manufacturing capabilities and capacity
  • Continue to reduce lead times
  • Drive employee development and grow cross-functional skill capabilities through implementation and support of cross training
  • Support the continuous improvement activities to improve delivery and cost objectives.
  • Support lean initiatives that support manufacturing operations - Rexnord Business Systems (RBS)
  • Support facility safety initiatives
  • Support quality initiatives that support manufacturing process improvements
  • Support annual capital expenditures process for capacity growth, cost reductions, etc.
  • Lead and drive Total Associate Engagement (TAE)
  • Drive on time delivery metrics

Major Responsibilities:

Under the limited supervision of the Plant Manager, performs the following duties:

  • Provides a central point of supervision for the operation of production activities that carries out plant objectives.
  • Carries out plans & procedures to reach plant objectives.
  • Strong project management approach with the ability to manage medium to long term project plans and lead teams to achieve the objectives
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to lead/drive through the change management cycle.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintains & achieves production schedule and takes appropriate action to clear away any difficulties that arise.
  • Operates with Peers and subordinate to develop a high level of morale, loyalty, cooperation and discipline throughout the plant.
  • Assists quality control to assure that established standards of quality accuracy and performance are maintained.
  • Reviews expenditures of immediate activities. Suggests means of reducing costs and/or limits potential costs increase.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in small to medium groups of diverse backgrounds as well as effective communication with various levels of management
  • Proven track record of utilizing sound problem solving skill set and root cause analysis as method of metric driven performance improvements
  • Reviews plant reports such as demos, effectivity, daily production, scrap, etc., to ensure operation is within budgeted allowances.
  • Strong exposure and demonstrated track record of manufacturing in a lean environment especially in set-up reduction and standard work implementation
  • Experience/Exposure in implementing lean daily management/visual management
  • Performs special assignments as directed by the plant manager.
  • Plans, organizes, and controls plant operations, utilizing the Regal Rexnord Business System and lean principles to achieve divisional objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Cash Flow.
  • Design and implement necessary improvements to maintain a safe, clean, energy efficient and well-organized facility
  • Through the Regal Rexnord annual Strategic Planning and Strategy Deployment processes, define improvement priorities which have the greatest impact to customers, stakeholders and associates; deploy strategy to team and engage team
  • Represents operations in the Sales, Inventory, Operations, Planning (SIOP) process
  • Leads the business including the Engineering, Operations, Quality, Human Resources, Customer Service, RBS, and Finance functions consistent with the annual operating plan for the Regal Rexnord Aerospace Group
  • Pro-actively analyzes operational metrics, making and driving process improvements within manufacturing, supply chain, and sourcing
  • Supports divisional growth strategy through improved manufacturing cost, capacity, and process flexibility.
  • Fosters a culture of Total Associate Engagement
  • Manages and improves salaried and hourly performance through exceptional utilization of the performance ownership process through goal setting, training, development, and performance evaluation.
  • Responsible for ensuring overall adherence by all associates to site quality systems and AS9100 specification
  • Other duties as required

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Operations; an MBA/MBO or ME required
  • 6-10 years of direct experience in business and operations leadership within a large, professionally managed metal machining environment.
  • Previous experience with Grinding, Turning, Machining preferred but not required.
  • Strong track record of implementing operations Continuous Improvement using lean tools such as Value Stream Maps, 5S, Standard Work, Kanban, Single Piece Flow, Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), Production Preparation Process (3P), Strategy Deployment, Visual Management, and Daily Management
  • Demonstrated senior level experience leading operational teams to achieve significant and quantifiable business results
  • Strong team building skills and the proven ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge solid and positive professional relationships with subordinates, peers, and executive management
  • Ability to drive accountability within the organization
  • Formally and informally communicates to achieve a shared understanding and build alignment with all levels of the organization including executive management
  • Key personality traits include high energy, self-motivated; results driven with a bias for action
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Excel, Word, MS Project, and PowerPoint, and ERP Systems
  • Good understanding of financial reports and analysis
