Information Technology Specialist Network Administrator - MTCCS

Fort Johnson, Louisiana (FJLA)

ATS is seeking a qualified Information Technology Specialist Network Administrator to support the Fort Johnson, Louisiana (FJLA) Mission Training Complex (MTC) Contract with Simulation/Stimulation training support. Support to the Berry MTC shall include integrated individual and collective Mission Command (MC) staff training and exercise via live, virtual and constructive modeling and simulations (e.g., Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC)) for home station, mission planning and rehearsal, and pre-deployment training ranging from platoon up to Combined Joint Task Forces (CJTF) levels with its Areas of Operations, to include Constructive and Gaming support to Title 10 Army training, Joint Training Plan (JTP), Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) engagement plan, Mission Rehearsals, Joint Interagency, Intergovernmental and Multinational (JIIM), and other multinational training are critical support elements for the Berry MTC.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:



  • Serves as the Network/Telecommunications technical expert with responsibility for assisting in analyzing network equipment and software reliability and utilization reports for large, complex equipment and software systems to identify and correct problem areas.
  • Assist in the management and securing of the three MTC security boundary, stacks supporting all training exercises.
  • Position requires the incumbent to be on call back and may require shift work. Shift work will be determined by the MTC director when necessary.
  • Physical set-up of facilities (furniture), configuration (event network, simulation and Army Mission Command Systems and database deployment) and end-to-end testing between the simulation and Army Mission Command Systems according to architectural design as directed.
  • Provides networking support for the MTC and any exercise support in preparation for training: Designs, Implements, and maintains network configurations, Builds, maintains, and configures Call Manager.
  • Troubleshoots any network or Call Manager issues.
  • Reviews STIGs and Best Business Practices (BBPs) to ensure that all Network equipment meets the required Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Army and DoD standards.
  • Responsible for the management of the Network Enclave.


Required Qualifications:



  • The appropriate DOD 8570.01-M baseline certifications as an IAT level II.
  • Must be knowledgeable of LAN/WAN/WLAN/ Network Systems & Security Systems, Network System Hardware/Software, Network testing & implementation plans.
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of, and skill in applying network systems design, development, testing, installation, operations, management, and maintenance concepts and methods, and the organization's network architecture, topology, and protocols. This includes but is not limited to OSI model, routing protocols, Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF), Dynamic Overclocking Technology (Dot)1X, Dot1Q, IPsec, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Spanning-Tree and port security.
  • Broad knowledge should also include several different manufactures including Cisco.
  • Knowledgeable of industry's latest best practices on network design, network engineering, network monitoring, network reporting, network management, traffic engineering, and network security, new and emerging information systems security technologies (both commercial and government) to evaluate and recommend adoption of new and improved approaches to providing and validating systems security.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend application of new security authentication technologies, such as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates, secure cards, biometrics; Administer and monitor the implementation of new technologies; Conduct security accreditation for network; Identify system components, develop, and maintain diagrams, assess risks, determine security mode of operation, identify security requirements and countermeasures, evaluate performance of security mechanism, develop risk mitigation, and prepare accreditation documentation.
