Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Alumni Relations.

Duties:

Leads alumni specific events, including medical activities, reunions, homecoming, alumni board meetings, and special gatherings to foster alumni relationships and
enhance engagement. Manages the planning, promotion, and execution of these events, ensuring effective logistics and communications.

Develops and maintains the current alumni database by tracking alumni participation, specialty licensure, residency training, and board certification. Analyzes alumni data for targeted outreach, strategic planning, and reporting on event attendance and impact metrics.

Plans and executes annual giving initiatives, including giving days, crowdfunding, student philanthropy efforts, and targeted campaigns for parents. Collaborates with the Central Office of Alumni Relations and other stakeholders to align fundraising efforts with university-wide strategies.

Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Development to design and implement comprehensive alumni engagement strategies, including annual giving programs
and engagement initiatives.

Oversees the development of marketing and multimedia materials, including newsletters, event promotions, and solicitation campaigns to enhance alumni
engagement and fundraising.

Serves as a liaison between HWCOM and the central Office of Alumni Relations to ensure alignment on engagement strategies. Coordinates closely with university advancement to identify major gift prospects among alumni. Collaborates intentionally with various departments, including the Office of Student Affairs, to
track alum participation and enhance engagement efforts.

Maintains a portfolio of key alumni, managing relationships with a focus on increasing their involvement and contributions. Leads the Grateful Scholars Alumni
initiative, recognizing alumni accomplishments for donor recognition. Creates a national alumni network categorized by hospital affiliation and medical discipline,
facilitating peer connections and engagement opportunities.

Handles donated funds in the form of checks or negotiable securities. Accesses confidential information regarding gifts and donors. Maintains a high level of
confidentiality with prospect and donor records. Works closely with the FIU Foundation, University Advancement, and HWCOM Finance.

Performs other duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the
position.

Develops and manages alumni clubs, programs, and online communities utilizing email campaigns and social media to engage alumni, showcase achievements, and
organization sustainable events. Work closely with the central Office of Alumni Relations to adhere to best practices and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience in higher education, alumni relations, development, event management, or a related field. Manages a major program and/or supervises support and professional staff.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in annual giving campaigns and alumni fundraising.
Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse alumni populations.
Knowledge of higher education advancement best practices, particularly in alumni engagement and
development.
Proficiency in marketing, using social media, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
