STATUS: Fulltime

The Salvation Army In Las Cruces, NM is looking to fill a Driver/Donation Attendant position. The Successful candidate for this position will have a positive attitude and the ability to work with many people with varied personalities, as with the store team. This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance, and more.

As a Donation Attendant you will be responsible for greeting every customer/donor with a smile and give proper assistance and thank them for shopping at The Salvation Army Thrift store. Keep yourself updated on the latest prices and assist in loading clothing bales for transport. Be able (with training) to determine what is or what is not a usable second hand item. Must be trustworthy in operating equipment and in handling and processing donated goods. Will be responsible in the unloading of donated items. Responsible for learning and operating the bailing machine. Will be responsible for cleaning, testing, and pricing of electronics. Responsible for the quality and cleanliness of items set for display.

As a Driver you are responsible for scheduling and performing pick-ups of donated goods, also responsible to do a daily maintenance check on truck, and report irregularities. Must always be presentable as a TSA representative. Must stay up to date on all required SA trainings and protocols. Work in warehouse as immediate supervisor considers would be best. Must report any/every incident to your supervisor. May be asked to change your schedule (with notice) to meet the operation needs of the Family Store. Must attend all store employee meetings and trainings. Will be responsible for your own time card. Report any discrepancies to supervisor. Other duties as assigned by supervisor as it relates to the position of Driver/Donation Attendant.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Have a positive attitude, and the ability to work with many people with varied personalities, as well as with the store team.
  • Must possess Forklift certification or be able to obtain within first 30 days.
  • Experience operating a baler preferred.
  • Must be trustworthy with donations.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must have a valid New Mexico driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
