Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Coordinator to be based in Wayne Michigan. Reporting to Materials Manager. This role will involve working cross-functionally, supporting both the manufacturing floor and office operations. The ideal candidate will balance hands-on responsibilities in the production environment with administrative, planning, or strategic tasks in the office setting, collaborating with multiple teams to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement.

What you'll do:

* Responds to both routine and non-routine inquiries, handling tasks related to the setup, verification, and management of Outside Service Provider material levels.
* Continuously evaluates the shipping process to identify opportunities for improving cost efficiency, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
* Monitors Outside Processing shipments to ensure accurate stock counts.
* Collaborates closely with shop management, suppliers, and carriers to ensure timely and accurate inbound and outbound deliveries

What you'll bring:



  • 1-3 years of experience as a Direct Materials Buyer for Manufacturing operations
  • AS400 and/or Oracle JD Edwards MRP systems experience a plus
  • Strong vendor relationship management skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office competency
  • Adaptability to changing business demands
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Familiarity with forecasting, lead times, safety stock, cycle counting, inventory management, and using an ERP system to assess needs / issue PO's

Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy
  • Gain an understanding of your team.
  • Gain an understanding of the processes and results the team is expected to deliver
  • Learn and use the tools and systems needed to effectively perform your job functions
  • Assess your personal training needs and communicate those needs to you Manager


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Develop a solid rapport with key vendors
  • Embark upon any additional training required for your role.
  • Hone your skills as it relates to the tools and systems you use in your daily role
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities related to Plant Operations


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Be capable of training for a Buyer role
  • Begin to assess any desired development roles
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with your manager
  • Be able to resolve any Purchasing related issues quickly and safely
