Crisis Worker - Residential

Reports to

Program Director

Position Summary

Under the authority of Management, the Crisis Worker assures that all operating procedures and regulations are followed. The Crisis Worker provides direct services to consumers, significant others and collateral resources and assists consumers in reaching goals set in treatment.

Hours:

Friday, Saturday 430pm - 1230am

Sunday, Monday 4:00pm - 12:00am

Essential Duties and Functions

Direct Care

  • Consumer Care including spending at least 75% of scheduled time in direct, face to face or telephone interactions with consumers
  • Conduct psycho-educational, skills training, and supportive crisis counseling in residence or community
  • Observe all scheduled and as needed (PRN) medication observations and assist as directed by Residential Nurse i.e. blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.
  • Residential crisis specific duties including but not limited to:
  • early walking,
  • daily planning,
  • meal preparation and clean-up,
  • maintaining necessary scheduled appointments that have been approved by supervisory team member
  • Telephone Crisis Specific Duties including screening incoming calls, providing appropriate telephone counseling, consultation, assessment and referral to needed services including Mobile and/or Residential Crisis Intervention services.
  • *Residential Services will be the primary responsibility*

Administrative

  • Complete all documentation as required by RHD, Funder, licensing/accreditation entities.

Community Interaction

  • Community Involvement and teamwork including but not limited to providing referral and other case management services for consumers and families at times of contact, either on the phone, in the community, or with the resident prior to discharge.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with major course work in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, nursing, counseling, education or a related field.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalency and 12 semester credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology; gerontology; or other social sciences.
  • 2 years of experience in public or private human services with one year of mental health direct care experience.

Working conditionsThis position is set in a residential or community environment. While performing the duties of the job, employees are frequently required to stand, walk, lift, and reach. Must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position.

Additional Requirements:

Mobile units are required to drive within the service area of the program. Visit home of consumer and provide support in community
