Job Description

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Preconstruction Estimator to join our talented team at our office located in Emeryville, California.

In this role, you will provide estimating services to projects and business development efforts. You will also prepare services estimates for projects to support the achievement of corporate objectives and prepares constructed cost estimates for projects to support the achievement of corporate objectives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of estimating programs and systems.
  • Works with Project Executives and Project Managers to coordinate the acquisition of input information for the estimating process for projects.
  • Prepares project estimates using drawings, specifications, scope, basis of design, and other project information as input.
  • Monitors subcontract and purchase order awards, compares awarded costs to budgeted costs, determines the bases for variances, and adjusts estimating systems, models, and unit pricing to adjust future estimates.
  • Reviews design options and recommend the best solutions based on cost.
  • Prepares estimates to support the change management process for projects.
  • Works with Project Executives and Project Managers to monitor project implementation for compliance with the basis of the project estimate as required.
  • Evaluates required estimate contents by reviewing requests for proposals, attending pre-bid meetings, and communicating with the proposal team to support the preparation of bids and proposals during the bid/proposal preparation phase.

The salary offered for this role is between $81,500 to $135,850, but actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set and education.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline or an equivalent technical degree.
  • Experience in Project Delivery, including Estimating.
  • 8-10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Exposure to MEP systems and Cost Estimating is a distinct advantage.

All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually, with video required.
