Application Window Open date: November 8, 2024 Most recent review date: Saturday, Nov 23, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Monday, Mar 31, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description This position will be involved in interdisciplinary research projects studies focusing on questions in veterinary epidemiology, animal health, food safety, microbiology and laboratory methods. General responsibilities include: Lab management, coordination and planning of research projects, which includes field and laboratory work, manuscript writing. It will be necessary to occasionally work odd hours as necessary to conduct farm visits and meet deadlines. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail-oriented, and have strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills; as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team to ensure that lab operations run smoothly. Research (90%): Research activities including: Conduct statistical analyses and summarize the findings in progress reports, manuscripts and grants. Participating in writing and publication of manuscripts in collaboration with the PI and other lab members. Communicating with stakeholders and participating clientele/farmers. Creating and maintaining databases of data from research projects. Laboratory activities including: Purchasing project supplies and equipment, troubleshooting data collection and protocols, managing and submitting receipts, and overall logistical support for experiments. Bachelor of Science in a relevant scientific field with an understanding of experiment design and scientific methods. Excellent organizational skills and ability to anticipate project needs and manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines. Valid Driver's License Ability to work well in teams as well work independently with general direction from research staff. Ability to contribute to, or lead, aspects of project work that may occasionally involve working unusual hours (e.g., late nights, early mornings, and weekends), working outdoors, working with and handling live animals and potentially lifting up to 50 pounds for short durations.
