Job Description: Summary: Barr is seeking an environmental engineer to join its Minneapolis office and undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the investigation, evaluation, and remediation of contaminated sites. Work may include managing multidisciplinary teams; preparing technical work plans and reports; coordinating ASTM Phase I environmental site assessments, including in support of property transactions (e.g., acquisitions, divestitures); designing, implementing, and coordinating activities associated with Phase II investigations, including investigating contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor intrusion; conducting remediation technology evaluations and feasibility studies; developing site management strategies, remedial design, and response action plans; and coordinating site remediation activities. Responsibilities will also include development of proposals, scopes of work, and budgets; communications, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory agency personnel; and overall project management. Responsibilities may also involve mentoring staff, building client relationships, and business development. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, geological, or chemical engineering; geology; or related disciplines 10 or more years of relevant work experience Familiarity with Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) guidance documents Project management and leadership experience with complex projects Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, regulators, and clients Strong technical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness Strong computer skills including word processing and use of spreadsheets A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs Willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future Preferred Qualifications: Registered Professional Engineer Experience conducting communications, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory and agency personnel Staff mentoring, building client relationships, and business development A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Duluth, or Hibbing, Minnesota, offices. Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000 - 125,000/year. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation will vary based upon relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
